Perfect Plastic Printing Corporation has made it a policy for several decades to conduct business and manufacturing in a manner that is environmentally friendly. This is achieved on many fronts through out the organization and at many stages of the manufacture of payment devices:

Solvent Emissions Reduction Program

Perfect Plastic has achieved 100% production of lithographic output using UV curable inks which produce no volatile organic emissions. Additionally, our use of solvent borne screen inks has been reduced to 5% (95% water borne or UV curable technology).

Sheet and Card Scrap Reduction Program

Perfect Plastic has a comprehensive scrap reduction initiative in place. Sheet stock is allocated per customer order to the presses. All waste schedules have been reduced several times in core stock allocation. Maintenance programs are built into the schedules further improving waste reduction.

Scrap Plastic Shredding and Recycling Program

All plastic scrap we generate in card production, such as plastic skeletons from cut sheets and shredded card waste, are turned over to a plastic recycling firm which transforms them into stock used to manufacture other plastic products.

Recycled Packaging Materials Program

We receive our raw materials packaged in paper, cardboard, and plastic. These materials are separated, collected, and turned over to recycling firms.

Scrap Metal Recycling Program

Credit card production generates scrap aluminum print plates, scrap stainless steel lamination plates, and steel stamping dies. When these have reached the end of use, we turn them over to a metal recycling firm.

Facilities Energy Savings Initiatives

We regularly service energy intensive equipment to improve reliability and energy efficiency. We are systematically replacing electrical devices in our plant with more energy efficient versions. Our plant illumination system is being upgraded to more efficient technology.

Overs Shipping Policy

To meet order fulfillment requirements, we plan a percentage of overproduction. This can result in additional cards above that which the customer ordered. It is our policy that we will ship up to 10% over the Customers order quantity, there by saving these additional cards from immediately being put into the wastestream.

Expended Card and Obsolete Inventory Return Program

Perfect Plastic Printing is authorized to destroy secure credit cards returned through financial customers. Arrangements can be made through the Customer Service Department.

Green Products

Perfect Plastic Printing offers 2 "green" alternatives with our renew® line: renew®/recycled and renew®/bioPVC®. Both products offer all the convenience and functionality of traditional cards in a more responsible package.

renew®/recycled

There are currently 2 renew®/recycled product offerings: 84% and 56%. Both renew®/recycled products are made from post-industrial recycled vinyl by weight. The recycled material consists of scrap from industrial processing, either from the plastic sheet manufacturer, the card manufacturers (including Perfect Plastic Printing), or other manufacturers of plastic stock or parts. The use of recycled PVC in card production is an environmentally conscious solution, reducing the amount of virgin material, diverting material from the waste stream and delaying their delivery to the landfill. The 84% renew®/recycled cards are produced from 98% recycled PVC core stock with the balance of the card consisting of virgin vinyl core stock, overlays, stamps, magstripe, inks and coatings. The calculations are based on weight and create a final product with an average of 84.1% recycled PVC. The actual recycled content may vary slightly and final percentages may change based on the exact build specifications of a particular card design. The 56% renew®/recycled product is constructed from 65% recycled PVC core stock. Both renew®/recycled card products are produced the same way as traditional cards.

renew®/bioPVC®

Unlike recycled PVC cards, renew®/bioPVC® cards are created from a biodegradable blended PVC resin. This product can be disposed of as you would your common yard waste. renew®/bioPVC® degrades in the presence of oxygen and microorganisms that can be found in a commercial or household compost pile, a trash dump or the ground. Under the right conditions, these fertile environments help to break down the hydrogen-carbon chains over time, producing the by-product of water and carbon dioxide. renew®/bioPVC® cards will not begin to breakdown unless introduced into a fertile environment. There are no special requirements in the production of renew®/bioPVC® products, they are produced and preform the same as traditional cards, only with ability to be returned to nature at the end of their life.

All renew® Cards can be characterized by Product Application and Product Qualification: Secure financial transaction cards meeting applicable standards such as ISO/IEC7810, ISO/IEC7811, and ISO/IEC7813. Non-secure Gift and Phone Card
